Religious Sisters Appreciation Day was held on August 29th sponsored by the six KC Metro Serra Clubs. Due to space restrictions, the event was moved to the Savior Pastoral Center in northwest Kansas City, Kansas. Response to invitations varied as the event date approached, with a final count of 56 from the religious communities and 76 from the Serra Clubs. Archbishop Naumann and Bishop Johnston led much of the program, thanking the sisters for their vocation and support of the clergy and communities in which they serve.

Michael Podrabarac provided a mediation on the Beatitudes in praise for the Sister’s dedication to the teachings of Jesus Christ. As the Chapel portion was completed, the participants relocated to the Dining Room for a great meal and conversation. Many of the Sisters had driven several hours to attend an event they look forward to each year. They traveled from Lincoln, Nebraska, Lansing, Leavenworth and Atchinson in Kansas and Grandview and Independence in Missouri. Special thanks for those who supported the event through their time and donations.
