Making it a family affair. Together these gentlemen represent families with a total of twelve generations helping the Sisters Servants of Mary by hosting the spaghetti dinner.
The Sisters, Servants of Mary have provided selfless service in the Kansas City community for 100 years. They receive support from many, including Serra KCK, at various functions held for them throughout the year.
Since 1939 several families have supported the Sisters by hosting a Spaghetti Dinner, now held annually on Super Bowl Sunday. The photos of this year’s event clearly show a joyful Catholic Church in action.
On the same day of this year’s Spaghetti Dinner, Ross Douthaut of the New York Times wrote about our Church as a “ransacked, decaying basilica that is American Catholicism”. The solidarity and joy of our Church manifested at this Spaghetti Dinner and many thousands of other works show rather a Church actively guided by the Holy Spirit and building the Kingdom of God.
